About this house sitting position in North Melbourne

Hello,

*This is very much a “Must Love Dogs” Post!!*

We live in a newly renovated double fronted home in North Melbourne. We are a 10 minute tram ride or decent walk to Melbourne CBD and the Vic Market, a stroll to Royal Park and about a 10 Minute walk to Errol street. There are three tram routes within 5 minutes walk as well as a train station approximately 8 minutes walk away.

There’s a little supermarket, cafe, chemists, bottle shop and a couple of take-away places about 200m away.

The house has 2 x living areas - a living room at the front and open plan living/dining/kitchen at the rear. One bathroom with a big bath and excellent shower arrangement over the bath with various knobs and buttons. There is a relatively large bedroom with queen sized bed, with the second bedroom set up as a study/room of random things (ie no bed!). Laundry (with washer/dryer) and small courtyard at the rear with barbecue and a big table. Split system air conditioner at the rear of the house. It’s a very bright, comfortable home. We have Foxtel, Netflix and Stan and all the TV’s you could want to watch.

Most importantly we have 2 x dogs - an elderly dachshund and a young whippet x. It is more than likely that the dachshund will be with her grandparents, but Rupert the whippet-x comes with the house.

Full disclosure: Rupert is pretty full on! The reason that we are looking to have a house sitter is because my parents have said that they can’t look after him for more than a day or two as he is too much for them. They love him dearly, but he is too active for my dad who isn’t very well and is exhausted by him.

He’s a beautiful dog with a lovely nature who will want to snuggle with you constantly, but he’s very active and needs to be walked and entertained each day. He gets a bit destructive if he is not tired out (eats couches and...well...everything really!)

- There is a fenced dog park and a massive oval 5 minutes walk from the house as well as Royal Park
- we tend to walk/run him for 45 minutes - 1 hour each morning and then again for a little while in the afternoon.
- a 20- minute run at the fenced dog park will tire him out as he gets the other dogs to chase him
- He can’t be trusted off-lead (except for at the fenced dog park) as he’s far too silly.
- He’s generally really well behaved when out in the world and can be taken out to cafes etc without any stress at all.
- he’s pretty small - about 11 kg and all legs

Attached are some photos of Rupert in various places around the house
