About this assignment
We are looking for someone who loves animals to come looking after our two small dogs and apartment.
We are looking for someone who loves animals and is relatively laid back, clean, and interested in relaxing in our modern, recently remodeled, apartment.
If the gardener has a green thumb and is willing to help with seedlings in the windowsill, that would also be a bonus!
What responsibilities are required of the house sitter
The dogs are walked for 30 minutes, 3 times per day, and then right before bed they get a 10 minute walk. The walks can be spaced around 6 hours apart. They are fed once per day and their water bowls must be cleaned once per day.
The dogs are both healthy and have no issues at this time.
Because our animals are an extension to our family - they are the most important things in our lives! We hope to find someone who loves animals and wants to spend time with them while they are enjoying the apartment. We have found that when couples stay with us, it is easier, so they can share the chores.
We would like someone to treat the house as their own, so basic household cleanliness.
What are the good features of the property and location
Our property is located in Utrecht city center, on the famous canal of Oudegracht. We are a 5 minute bike ride or 15 minute walk from Central Station. We love the city! It is a great, historical city, with a ton of charm. There are lots of restaurants and other fun activities. Utrecht is the biggest train station in the Netherlands, so you can find direct connections everywhere. If you're here for a vacation and want to see other Dutch cities, you can easily do this from here!
Our house was recently remodeled with a modern kitchen and very nice bathroom with bathtub. We have a beautiful private large garden; something completely unique to this part of the city.
We can arrange leaving bikes, and would prefer for the house sitter to arrive at least the evening before we leave so we can meet in person, enjoy dinner, and explain the daily routine in person. We have a guest room with a very comfortable double bed for the house sitter.
If you are a home worker, we have two sit-stand working stations (one is big, the other one is small) and a 3rd sitting desk. Wifi is excellent, high speed, and reliable quality. Two large TV's are available and connected to the internet.
What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment
The most important thing is whether or not you love animals. All of our animals are so loving and want to have attention all day. They will sit with you wherever you are in the house or garden and they will want to sleep with you also.

Four amazing pets
Danielle and Chris are very nice and welcoming people who love their pets. They are very detailed and precise with their instructions. Everything was very clear from the first moment and they both were there for me to ask any questions. They showed me how to walk the 3 dogs and how were their routines. Dogs daily walk is done 3 times a day and it is a beautiful stroll through a gorgeus area of Utrecht. The house is located in the center of the city and the dogs walk is easy to do. The pets are adorable! The 3 dogs (Bella, Carlton and Dixie) and cat Bubba are very affectionate and I enjoyed every moment being with them. I felt very accompanied! This House sitting allowed me to learn a lot about pet care and feeling the love that pets give you is amazing. Pet Sitting in Utrecht
I pet sat for Danielle and Chris for about 10 days in October 2021. I thoroughly enjoyed looking after their three dogs Bella, Carlton & Dixie, and cat Bubba. Their distinct personalities made them a joy to spend time with and taking the dogs on twice-daily walks along the tree line canals and pretty streets was a lovely experience. All their pets were incredibly trusting and friendly and we bonded right away. They were great at communicating their needs to us and were generally really easy to look after. Just lots of cuddles, consistent meal times, and twice-daily walks. Normal pet things. Bubba was especially easy to look after as well. Despite Danielle and Chris' busy schedules ahead of their travels, they spent a heap of time ensuring we had all the details we needed - even taking us on a tour of the route the dogs like to walk - and kept in touch throughout their trip. They were also incredibly generous and offered us use of their bikes and made us feel at home in their big, bright apartment. As a freelancer that works from home, Danielle and Chris' apartment had a number of places to work from including desks and a big dining table. Despite being on a major thoroughfare the apartment was peaceful and a great place to work from. In fact, being walking distance from central Utrecht made it easy to explore the city and hunt down coffee, groceries, and thrift stores - all of which are nearby. I'd recommend sitting for Danielle and Chris if you're someone who's experienced with dogs and loves living the life of a dog parent.

Came as a housesitter, left as a friend !
Danielle and Chris are incredibly nice, smart, and considerate people. They lead busy lives, but likewise enjoy taking time off and enjoying the simpler things in life. Rather than compromising between their work schedules and caring for their dogs, they seek out people to alleviate the burden while staying at their place. From my perspective, the "rent" was something I enjoy doing anyways - walking and spending time with three lovely dogs. Chris and Danielle were always open to discuss what schedule worked best for them and for me, ultimately creating a positive and friendly environment. Just be aware that each dog has its own personality, and that must be kept in mind when handling them :)

A wonderful time in historic Utrecht
My son and I had such a wonderful time last Christmas holidays thanks to the wonderful opportunity presented to us by Danielle and Chris. They welcomed us on the first night with open arms and a dinner,they showed us around beautiful Utrecht and instructed us how to to take care of theirs precious pets, Bella,Carlton,Dixie and Bubba! We enjoyed the daily walks,the cuddles and sharing dinner with those well mannered and adorable pets of theirs! The home is located is in the heart of Utrecht, surround by beautiful history and musuems so never was there a dull moment. . We highly reccomend taking care of this home and its four legged inhabitants. We will certainly meet again! Thank you again for this wonderful opportunity ,keep well Yolande and Max
