About this assignment
We are looking for a COUPLE who will care for our house, our beloved dogs and our plants. This could suit someone fairly local to Javea, though we have welcomed sitters from all over the world! They will enjoy the walks through the area in Javea, on the Costa Blanca and benefit from the beautiful exciting environment in which we live. The Mediterranean is on our doorstep, less than a ten minute drive away. You will respect our privacy. We want to be able to go away for periods of time and know that our home life continues to be secure and our little dogs well cared for. We are strict non-smokers. Sometimes we want just a night or two away, so if you are reasonably close to Javea, this is ideal. Other holidays of longer duration too of course. You WILL need a car.
What responsibilities are required of the house sitter
Our two little dogs are very affectionate. Chico is six, absolutely gorgeous, quite determined and loves his walks. Sancho, his younger half brother, is a real softie, and knows how to charm. They have their own door. The garden may need watering, and the house plants too but it’s all pretty easy. The dogs can be left for several hours at a time during the day permitting the house sitter to explore the neighbourhood, and go shopping etc.
What are the good features of the property and location
Our villa is warm, comfortable and spacious. Outside we have a beautiful covered pool which the house sitter can use. The garden is private and pretty, on a quiet residential road just a seven minute drive away from the beach, restaurants, shops etc. Nearby you have the Mediterranean in one direction and hills and mountains in the other, full of villages and other weekly markets. Your bedroom is a double and you have your own bathroom. We have Spanish, French and can have English tv, and a very good internet connection.
What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment
You will want to love two small inquisitive dogs who enjoy your company and may want to follow you round, be your best friend. Chico has a special diet but it is easy to administer. They both get a face wash and tooth clean each evening. We live close to amenities and the sea, but a CAR IS ESSENTIAL. Javea is a busy resort and houses many different nationalities and and everyone is very friendly. We want someone who will respect the peaceful surroundings of our life, our belongings and home.

A lovely local sit.
Chico and Sancho welcomed our Izzy into their home, we did a little visit first to make sure, but all was well and it was great to meet Mary-Lou and Jacques. We sat in early December 2022 and were very comfortable because the house is definitely a cosy home with an attractive garden, the weather wasn't up to swimming in the pool, but it was tempting none the less. The doggies don't need a huge amount of exercise, one walk a day, which they thoroughly enjoy, but do like the company of course. Whoever does a sit here will have a lovely stay in a great area and feel very welcome too. We are so lucky to have these opportunities. Many thanks, Janie, Bob and Izzy.

Estancia en Javea
Hemos estado 12 días en la casa de Mary-Lousie y Jacques y debemos decir que son los anfitriones perfectos, la casa es comodísima cuenta con todas las comodidades. Pero lo mejor son sus dos bichones maltés Chico y Sancho un amor de perros además de muy buenos y obedientes. No puedo poner en palabras a su cálida acogida y lo fácil y sencillo que fue nuestra estancia lo tranquilo de la casa y su entorno, sin duda quien vaya allí se sentirá igual sino mejor que en su casa. Muchas gracias por hacerlo todo tan fácil y deciros que ha sido un auténtico placer haberos conocido y poder acompañar y cuidar de vuestras queridas mascotas. Hasta pronto!!

Summer and Winter in Beautiful Xábia
We have recently completed a second stay at Mary-Lou and Jacques’ lovely home high above Xábia. We rarely do return housesits, preferring to enjoy a variety of pets and explore new places, but last summer there was such fun and we were flattered to be invited back this winter. Our hosts are very friendly, fun and impressively artistic people! The cute little dogs are infinitely entertaining and the house is great in both hot and cold weather. We loved cooling off in the pool in the summer and sitting warm and cosy inside in the winter. It was a bonus to have little work to do as the house is tended to by a very thorough lady that comes in weekly and the garden kept looking glorious in the summer and tidy in the winter by regular visits from the gardeners. Xábia town and the bay were good to explore and other towns, such as Moraira to see the Salt Giant (and eat delicious fish and chips at Fishy Fishy!) and Pedreguer, which has a fantastic street market, were within an easy drive out. All in all we can thoroughly recommend housesitting for Mary-Lou and Jacques as well as looking after their dear little feisty fluff balls!

A wonderful house-sit
I have house-sat for Mary-Lou & Jacques and their adorable dogs, Oscar & Billy, on 3 occasions in the past 12 months. It is easy to say why I go back, and hope to keep on doing so - the dogs are easy to look after and are very affectionate without being at all demanding. Billy will walk all day, if you want to join him, and Oscar, the elder statesman, plods his way around but clearly enjoys his exercise. Mary-Lou and Jacques give clear instructions and keep a modern home that has everything a house-sitter would need. I now call them 'friends' and I enjoy seeing them as often as I can.
