We are seeking an individual or couple who will stay in and care for our small casita on the beach of Playa Zancudo. Playa Zancudo is a remote village of approximately 300 people (a mix of Ticos and expats from all over the world) in the southern zone of Costa Rica, near the border with Panama. The house is a rancho casita- 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a large eating/cooking area, a screened porch, and a storage area. It is on a large private property 50 meters from the beach.
WHAT RESPONSIBILITIES ARE REQUIRE OF THE HOUSESITTER
Overseeing the care of home and garden: We have a gardener who comes once a month to trim the grass and general clean up of the yard. Housesitter is welcome to do any landscaping/gardening as desired. There are any number of plants on the sides of roads and in Costa Rica most cuttings can be just "stuck in the ground" and they will grow.
Be adept trouble shooters: Make sure all is in working order, that lights are replaced as needed, etc. Your job will be to point out any house needs as soon as noticed and report anything that goes amiss to us.
WHAT ARE THE GOOD FEATURES OF THE PROPERTY AND LOCATION
The Casita is located on the Golfo Dulce, across from the Osa Peninsula. There are macaws (lapas) and monkeys regularly seen right outside the screened porch.
Zancudo is an amazing coastal village nestled alongside the most beautiful beach in all of Costa Rica.
Within easy distance is the border of Panama, the Osa Peninsula, Drakes Bay, Pavones (world class surfing).
You have full use of the entire house. WiFi, water, tele & electricity included. House sitters are required to have the house cleaned once a month, cost is $30.
Essentially you have no rent (with the exception of housecleaning service) to stay in one of the world’s most beautiful settings. What we ask is for your care of our casita and to treat it as you would your own house. Zancudo has basic markets that can supply necessities, a veggie and fruit truck that comes twice a week and some awesome restaurants.
WHAT DOES THE HOUSESITTER NEED TO CONSIDER BEFORE APPLYING TO THIS ASSIGNMENT
Villagers are friendly and internationals who have discovered Zancudo appreciate its specialness and are a great group!
This is the beginning of the rainy season in Costa Rica. You may have rainy days, or days with no rain at all, or days with some rain.
The most important consideration for us in selecting a housesitter(s) is vigilant villa care = Being observant, pointing out a roof leak, plugged toilet, torn screen, tile crack at onset & contacting us so we can make repairs, as needed. We have a property manager who lives nearby and she will be available for you as well.
There are no pets to care for, so day trips are possible. There are a number of activities and places so that the housesitters can experience Costa Rica and Pura Vida.
