About this house sitting position in Port Augusta
We are a retired couple who love our animals. The trouble is getting away can be a bit difficult. We have a menagerie of well loved pets and rescue animals, they take up a bit of your time but reward you ten fold. We are happy to fit in with other people's travel plans to enable us a week or two away every once in a while.
Our home is centrally situated in the heart of Port Augusta. It is a 10 minute walk to the CBD and parks and ovals are just 100 metres away. Our house is 100 years old, 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, kitchen, dining and 3 living areas. We also have three main large aviaries (see photos) for our rescue birds, pets and finches. There is plenty to do in both Port Augusta and the region. Port Augusta has the Arid Lands Botanic Gardens and Wadlata Outback Centre and there are plenty of days trips around Spencer Gulf and the Flinders Ranges to be had.
You will need to be around every day as collectively the birds do need your help! Our two dogs Paddy (aged 15) and Dusty (11) will be in charge and you will be at their beck and call !!! After years of rescuing and releasing native birds we do find ourselves with a few "non release" birds. We have 4 Magpies, 6 Purple Crowned Lorikeets (they all have names!) and Tyrone the Crested Pigeon plus Snowy the Cockatiel and 30 or 40 aviary bred Finches.
