Introduction
Retired couple have not used house sitters before. Have family in Tasmania would like to be able to visit more regularly. Published dates are just a guide as we have not booked yet but will be somewhere around this time.
Home & location
Large guest room off lounge with queen bed computer desk and modern bathroom close by. Open plan kitchen lounge and dining. 2 separate family/sitting areas for quiet times. 2 tvs for couples who want to watch different shows. Large kitchen with gas cooker. Aircon and wood fire. House is fully screened with beautiful views off the deck and out the northeast side. Private but with good neighbours who can lend a hand if needed. Internet available. Walking distance to town. Sloped driveway not suited to park a caravan but there is a covered car space. House is on a slope and has stairs to downstairs. Main part of house living kitchen bedrooms and bathrooms all on one level. Walk to town is down steps and down hill through a quiet street. The village is a vibrant place with shops cafes and entertainment. A supa IGA and a local co-op service all grocery and fresh produce needs. House is on half acre lawn and tropical free range plants but well cleared around house. We do get a lot of wildlife including snakes so keep screen closed at all times. Do not want snakes in or cats out.
Responsibilities
Yard work not required unless avid gardeners wish to do it. Looking after 3 pets. The cats must be kept strictly indoors apart from daily walks on harness for Badger. They can sit on the deck supervised but are not allowed to jump on railings. They must come in with you and screen must be shut. Do a head count to make sure they are inside. Badger is sneaky. Always do a cat head count when leaving the house. Rumpole is allowed outside but not when sitters are not at home. If he barks he must be called in. We discourage barking and jumping up and licking. Also don't leave him out too long as we do get snakes and don't put water bowls outside for this reason. He is house trained but it requires being let out. He wont bark to go out through the day but he will bark to come in. He sleeps in a contained area at night. His last toilet break he goes out on a lead as it is dark and there are cane toads etc. He will ask for the toilet about 7.30 a.m. the next morning. He gets a walk before breakfast. A walk about 10 when he comes out for coffee with us and then he goes to the dog park most nights around 4pm. It is not fenced there so he keeps you on your toes with his wandering. Must be willing to watch him make sure he is not being too rough with little dogs and not getting the worst of it with big dogs. The show grounds is about a 2k walk so easier if you have a car. We wont loan ours. If you don;t want to go to the dog park he could just have an extra big walk along one of the walkways but he prefers his off the lead time. You could also play with him in the yard instead. The yard is sloped though but a flatter area at the bottom. It is ok to go out for a few hours in the day now and then and leave Rumpole at home but we prefer not over 5 hours and make sure he is toileted before you leave. It's fine to go out to lunch or shopping and leave him home. He has a car crate if you want to take him on any trips with you. All 3 pets are raw fed. it will be made up but the cats can be fussy and one cat is timid so might need coaxing. Rumpole can have their leftovers incorporated into his meal allowance but he cant have beef. I throw that into the paddock for the birds. He has an intolerance to beef. The timid cat is very snuggly once she knows people. She likes a nurse and Badger will be all over you like a rash. Rumpole is also very affectionate. Rumpole is not allowed on the beds. The cats are not allowed on the food prep bench but Badger will try it on. The cats can sleep with you if you can put up with it we don't sleep with any of them. Normal house keeping clean and tidy.
