One-time Quinta (self-catering yard)
directly in the Peneda-Geres National Park at the Paradela barrier lake in Portugal. 40.000m² to fully live the “free life” and live in harmony with nature. The property is south facing and has an old plant, vine and tree population and a large vegetable garden.
You do not have to stay the entire period. We are quite flexible. Our dates are not yet firm. We would like the house-sitters to come at least 2 days (better would be 4-5 days) before we leave, so we can give instructions, get to know one another and introduce the to our neighbor. At least 4 weeks are desired. If you think you can live alone in the mountains, you are welcome to come alone, but also with people you love.
There is only one offroad access road (about 40min.) and a hiking trail (about 1 hour). Within a radius of 5 km lives only one neighbor, but this "almost" next to. The nearest supermarket is at least an hour away. So you should look for seclusion for a few weeks, either to relax, write, or an activity in nature.
We are looking for a nature-loving, reliable and independent person (it can also come several people) who, even when it rains for days, still enjoys the resulting rainbow.
You have to feed our animals; two dogs (breed Castro Laboreiro mix) & three cats and a few chickens and ducks. All our animals live outside. The dogs and cats move freely. The food is provided.
If it gets very dry, the irrigation should be switched on. Since we surrounded our property with an electric fence to protect against cows, you should check it regularly.
Also, you should be able to handle a chainsaw. We've stored a lot of wood, but to keep it warm in the house, you have to saw and chop wood. You are welcome to eat the growing vegetables from our garden and to sow your own seeds if you want.
We live very far outside, right in the core zone of the national park. So you should look for seclusion for a few weeks. Usually only a few beetle herdsmen, looking for their cows, come by for a visit. To keep it with these visitors, you should not be afraid to set up a mousetrap and empty it if a mouse seeks shelter from the rain in the warm house.
The property has 3 sources, which flow into a reservoir to ensure the water supply to the system. The sources provide even in dry summers consistently sufficient water (drinking water quality).
The power supply is ensured by a solar system. For special power requirements or winter bad weather conditions, an existing Diesel generator set can be switched on. The property has several outbuildings; a workshop, stables, storage buildings, a greenhouse and a woodshed located on the property. Also we have a lot of different things to spend time with you can use.
Here in the biosphere reserve you can enjoy the pure nature. Not far from our house you can watch the free-roaming Garrano wild horses and cattle and take spectacular hikes. All small villages are very quaint, the inhabitants incredibly nice. Montalegre, Braga, Chaves and Porto are very beautiful cities that can be reached by bus from Montalegre.
