About this house sitting position in Gwynfe
My partner and I have a lovely Welsh farmhouse in the western end of the Brecon Beacons National Park. Our 5 acres of land overlook the Black Mountain.
We have 2 very elderly springer spaniels with limited mobility and 3 rescue cats. We also have an assortment of pet sheep and rescue chickens (currently 7 of each).
Our dogs are quite arthritic now and can only cope with short walks around our fields. They spend a lot of time sleeping but love to have company. Caring for the cats simply requires ensuring they are fed and watered and giving love as and when they demand it! There is a litter tray in the house however they mostly choose to go outside. We don’t have a cat flap so you would need to let them in and out and they always have access to the barn which is dry and comfortable for them. The chickens have a lovely pen in the corner of the garden where they have plenty of shelter. They have a house which they take themselves into once it gets dark and then the pop-hole will need to be shut so they are safe overnight. In the morning this will need to be opened and their food and water replenished, and later in the day eggs collected from the nest box. The house will need to be cleaned out at least once a week. The sheep are very happy wandering between the fields and keeping the grass down - they just need their water topping up when it gets low.
Although the location is rural we have good access to Cardiff and Swansea as well as the coast (all within a 60-90 minute drive) and the whole of the Brecon Beacons. The local market towns of Llandeilo and Llandovery are 20 minutes drive away.
The house has been renovated to a high standard and comprises a large living room with log burner, a very well equipped kitchen/diner, utility room, toilet and study downstairs, and 3 bedrooms and a bathroom upstairs. There is ample parking space on the drive for several cars.
We are looking for house / pet sitters for when we go on holidays- generally for 1-2 weeks at a time. Read more...
