About this house sitting position in Devonport
Our home is called 'Appledore House' and it is located in Devonport, Tasmania. We live in a peaceful elevated location, with views of the Mersey River, the port, Bass Strait & the hills of East Devonport. The house has been recently renovated throughout. You will have a QS bedroom with garden views & exclusive use of a new bathroom - in addition to the rest of the house that is for your use as well. Our single level quality accommodation is surrounded by gardens with lots off-street parking. Nearby, are a network of walking paths (unless you choose to drive the short distance) to shopping, eateries, the Bluff, beaches & places of interest. The home serves as a great base from which to explore Tasmania's Highlands & NW coast. Of most importance to us for this assignment, is the well-being and safety of our 2 Hungarian Vizslas - one 13 year old male and the other, a 15 month old female, both neutered and healthy. We treat our dogs as family members, with a long walk every day. They thrive on lots of cuddles and can get stressed if left alone for long periods.
This house sitting opportunity will probably be from the second week of July 2020 through to the end of August 2020. *At this stage, we are still finalising dates for our overseas travel so some adjustment of dates may be required. We anticipate being away from home for around 28 days but would like our house/pet sitters to be available earlier to stay with us in our home so that you will get to know our much loved Vizslas, their routines and favourite beach and bushwalks. During the days of your stay before we depart on our holiday, you may choose to explore and do your own day trips as there are National Parks in Tasmania where dogs cannot visit. Also, as it is most important that our Vizslas are not left alone for long periods, we invite you to stay on for a few days after our return so that you can do more of your own travel to National Parks and Wilderness areas where dogs are prohibited.
Tasmania is beautiful all year round - whether wild and rugged, or balmy and sunny - and it is possible to experience all four seasons in one day. There are lots of opportunities for exploring the natural environment and eating local produce. For this assignment, you will be lucky enough to visit Tasmania in the cooler months where you will enjoy quieter roads and fewer visitors to the beautiful island state ....and, you will be kept warm and cosy during your stay with double glazing, insulation, an open fire and gas heating, and dogs lounging on the bed with you while you enjoy your early morning coffee.
Please note that we can arrange to have the lawns mowed during your stay, or you may choose to tend to the lawns with the ride-on mower and regular mower. Read more...
