About this house sitting position in South Townsville
Hello house sitters.
Sorry for the late notice.
We are searching for someone to look after our home, pets and gardens while we are away for approximately 3 weeks over the Christmas and New Year period.
Our home is in South Townsville, North Queensland.
We need someone who will be home every night for our two great mixed-breed dogs. They are locked up in the house's entryway each night (otherwise they roam the yard, bark all night and annoy the neighbours). They get fed breakfast and dinner and need a daily walk. We have a double story home and they are allowed downstairs when we are home. They love company and will enjoy sitting there with you while you watch TV. They don't have any health issues.
We also have four chickens and a worm farm, so experience with chickens would be helpful. (The worm farm doesn't take much work).
Our home was built in 1936 and is undergoing renovations, but we are nearing the end so nothing too drastic. We have a great kitchen and bathroom, plus a guest room if you won't be using your own vehicle. There is room out the front of the house for caravans etc (unfortunately we haven't got our carport yet). And an outdoor powerpoint if needed. The home is fully security screened. There is a bus stop across the road and it is about a 25 minute stroll to the city and a restaurant strip. It is a 5-10 minute drive to our Strand.
Our home is not airconditioned. But all rooms have fans and we live in a breezy and relatively cool part of the city.
Garden maintenance is mainly lawn mowing and lawn/plant watering. We are on a quarter acre block on a street corner. If it's fairly dry and the lawn doesn't grow too fast, you may only need to mow once while we are away.
Our departure date is a little bit flexible. We are aiming to leave on the day advised (Saturday), but if we have a crazy week before departure, we might have to leave on the Sunday (22nd).
We are hoping to overlap with your arrival so we can introduce you to the pets and home set up. (Noting things might be a bit crazy if we are still packing).
Non-smokers only please.
Also those travelling without pets would be best. Our dogs are OK with other dogs, but sometimes get too worked up. They aren't great with cats and birds (our dogs and chickens don't mix!).
