Cats are indoor/outdoor with door on a timer to keep them in overnight. They do all their business outside, so little to no litter box cleaning.
We are looking for singles or couples (we can not accommodate families) to stay in our quiet and safe neighborhood home, in the foothills of the Sandia Mountains, in Albuquerque, NM, to play with and care for our 2 4-year old cats, Jackie and Robin (litter mates, and with us since 4 weeks old).
The cats love going outside, but due to having coyotes and other predators in the area, we use a cat door on a timer, keeping them inside after 9pm until 5 am. We want a reliable housesitter to ensure that both cats are in each evening, and available to let cats inside at night should there be an issue with the cat door. Litter box maintenance is non-existent as they go outdoors. Yard is on a sprinkler system. Large vegetable garden and some newly planted fruit trees, but in June mainly just light weeding and picking produce for yourself as it ripens. Home is clean, neat and easy to maintain. No other household responsibilities, other than staying in the home each evening and making sure the cats are in before bedtime, feeding wet food in morning and evening (dry food available all the time), and giving the cats love and attention.
3 bedroom home, 2 car garage, 6 person hot tub, outdoor ambiance lighting, amazing view of the city from backyard, kitchen and living room, view of the Sandia Mountains out front living room, 3 minute drive to hiking trails in the foothills, 3 minute walk from walking/biking path along Tramway Blvd, quiet and safe neighborhood, big backyard with patio for BBQ and firepit, skydeck on roof of house for 360 degree views, 1 minute from Walgreens/CVS, 5 minutes from 5 different grocery stores, 10 minutes to nearest hospital, central location in New Mexico to explore the state! Albuquerque has two Trader Joe's and Whole Foods, as well as an extensive number of international cuisine restaurants. New Mexico gets 310 days of sunshine a year. Lots of interesting outdoor hiking, mountain biking, rockclimbing, and kayaking opportunities. New Mexico is also very diverse and has a lot of unique cultural and scenic attractions, restaurants and diverse neighborhoods.
No smoking. Must love cats and be willing to pet, play with and love our cats. Sitters should have their own car as Albuquerque is not the most bikeable city and public transport is limited, but we would consider loaning our car if you are flying from far away and it seems like a good fit. We will have a second couple come to house sit for another few weeks starting November 4th, so you would need to pick them up from the airport and instruct them in caring for the home and cats as you will be instructed when you arrive on the 17th of September. My mother lives near and could cover 1-2 nights at a time periodically if needed, if she is available.

Wonderful cat sit in Albuquerque!
Jill and Loic were wonderful hosts, who left us detailed instructions on how to care for their 2 precious cats (Jackie & Robin) and comfortable home at the base of the beautiful Sandia Mountains. They communicated regularly throughout the sit and answered any questions we had in a prompt manner, even hopping on video conference calls as needed while being abroad. Their cats were nothing short of a joy to care for, play with, and cuddle! Jackie loved playing with toys, and both cats were huge snuggle bugs. The sunsets from their backyard sun deck are breathtaking. If you want to see Albuquerque while caring for adorable cats, this is the sit for you! We would not hesitate to sit for Jill and Loic again!

Great place and pets!
This is a wonderful place. The homeowners were very friendly and accommodating, and the cats were a delight to take care of. I recieved clear instructions about the house and enjoyed spending time in a hot tub and the Albuqurque foothills.

Great host and sweet kitties!
Jill and her husband were wonderful hosts! I arrived the day before they left and they showed me around the city and gave me LOADS of recommendations for things to do and restaurants to try. They have a lovely home in a great location and were kind enough to let me use their car while I was there. Their 3 cats were easy to care for and quite sweet after the first day or so. I would happily return if the opportunity presents itself, and highly recommend Jill's cat/housesit to others!

Wonderful Sibling Kittens
It was a pleasure being able to house and pet sit for Jill and Loic. Kind, considerate and respectful the month long sit proved to be very pleasant! The kittens (Robin, Jackie and Harry) were full of sound but equally loving wanting lap times and pets all the time! They are purr machines!! I would recommend this stay to others. ABQ is a beautiful area with everything you might need, as well.
