About this house sitting position in Bright

Our small family home sits on a large, flat block, on the delightful Murray-Mountains Rail Trail, less than a 1km flat stroll from the centre of Bright, in what is described by many as an enviable location.

We have all the necessary creature comforts (including lovely neighbours!) and are close to all amenities ... this a holiday-makers heaven!

We are seeking someone to house sit and care for our 3 year old border collie, Aussie, for two weeks over the summer.

Aussie needs a good bout of exercise during the day (a walk/run/swim morning and evening) and someone at the house overnight. While he can be and mostly is quite sociable with other dogs, he can also be very protective of his home and his family. Aussie is happiest with human company and so this house sit would be best for someone who understands the border collie mindset and/or doesn't mind putting a little effort in to keeping his brain as exercised as his body!

We have many great options for exercising Aussie, with the rail trail outside for walking and riding, many local watering holes in the ovens river and great park lands and trails nearby.

When you are out and about doing your own thing, Aussie is happy to amuse himself in our large, fully fenced yard and in this respect is very easy to care for.

In these uncertain COVID times, here is some helpful information to help you decide whether this house sit might be a good fit for you:-

- we depart very early 27 December 2020, providing NSW offers unrestricted travel to regional Victorians. Make no mistake, we are pinning ALL our hopes on this trip to see family, however, if we are unable to leave Victoria we will potentially need to cancel the house-sit. We don't feel a cancellation is likely, though please consider this as a possibility before you get in touch.

- given the time of departure, we hope you'd either be comfortable arriving very early on the morning of the 27 27 December to meet us, or arriving later on the 27th to start this house sit without being able to meet us first (I have a huge 'manual' on all the things in the house (including Aussie) and could be in phone contact of course, plus have a friend or neighbour check in with you that day if you like). For arrival after 9am you'd need to feel comfortable meeting Aussie without us there. If you have your own caravan/camper accommodation and wish to arrive on the 26th we'd be more than delighted to accomodate you.

- we need to return on 10 January due to work and other commitments. If this presents a problem, let's chat about it prior, because our return date is slightly less firm than the departure date.

- we have a small, simple, yet very comfortable home, which is very easy to care for. We will aim to leave it in absolutely impeccable condition for you and hope to return to find it the same way.

- our fabulous, lush green grass grows incredibly quickly over the summer and really does need a weekly mow. It's not a requirement, though if you'd be happy to take on the haircutting duties just once during your stay we'd be very appreciative.

- families most welcome - we can easily sleep 4 (1 Queen, 2 singles in separate rooms) though given Aussie's size and assertive nature we would prefer no very young children

- we have heaps of parking space should you wish to stay in your own caravan on our property


Like many areas in Victoria, we've suffered through a year of bushfires and harsh restrictions and we're hoping that if we can provide accommodation at no cost, your dollars might be spent at the fabulous businesses in town, all of which would welcome the cash injection after the absence of a year of holiday trade.

With sublimely warm weather and crystal clear rivers, summer is the PERFECT time to visit beautiful Bright.
