We are looking for a house/pet sitter to stay in our DC home this summer, to care for our animals and plants, while keeping our house in good, clean shape. We are an English family who live in Washington DC, on Capitol Hill, easy walking distance to shops, restaurants, the metro, parks and all the tourist sights on the Mall. Ours is a cosy, comfortable Victorian terrace, family home, close to a lovely park.
With us, and needing care for nearly a month this summer, are our very lovable young bernedoodle pup, and two cute rabbits. Our pup is two years old and a bit of a lovable rogue (he'll steal your socks if you let him...). We don't have an accessible yard for him (the back deck is the rabbits' domain), and so he needs to be taken out 3 (or 4) times a day, including a 'longer' morning and late afternoon walk (30mins or so). He will hate the heat though and try to do less in the summer :-). Rabbits need feeding/watering every day, to be let out on the deck to hang out for a bit every day or two, and cleaned out once a week. He can be left (in his crate) to allow you to head out and visit the sights, though we'd ask for this to be not more than 4-5 hours max in one go. He'd love your company as much as poss! He is a cutie and we think you'll enjoy his company too. We have a few indoor plants to be watered, and a small front yard aswell.
Our home is fully equipped, as you'd expect for a family of 4. Wifi, utilities, etc included. Wifi speed strong and good for streaming/remote work. Desk area with decent office chair upstairs for those who will be working. Central AC. A cleaner will come twice during your stay - once about halfway through, and once towards the end. A kingbedroom/ensuite will be yours to use - there are two more bedrooms upstairs where we will store clothes, etc to make space for you.
We love our neighbourhood - it is close to everything and offers a great, safe base for an extended DC visit. Nats stadium and the river, plus the Capitol and Library of Congress are all within mins walk. There is a local corner store a few mins walk away and a Whole Foods 5 mins walk from the house. This arrangement would really suit a couple or solo sitter well. More details will of course be provided in any exchanges and ahead of the stay.
