Hello! I need someone to take care of my home and more importantly my darling labradoodle Potter and Miss Kitty Raku June 21 thru July 2, 2024. Raku and Potter are both really fun animals- Miss Kitty Raku walks around the block with us, comes when called and has trained me well to get the whipped cream out. And Potter is too cute, very smart and so playful that you will fall in love with him instantly.
My home is in Beaufort NORTH Carolina, voted the coolest small town in America! I live in a quiet, established neighborhood on the North River which goes to Beaufort, the Outerbanks and the ocean beyond. Our county is called the Crystal Coast because of its beautiful south facing Atlantic beaches.
Beaufort is a small, quaint seaport town with a beautiful historic district, Maritime Museum, phenomenal restaurants, boutique shopping and an active waterfront with sail boats, working boats, and power boats of all sizes. Some are cruising the eastern seaboard (that's how we found it!), some providing dolphin tours, sunset sailing cruises, bringing in the nights catch of shrimp or participating in numerous off shore fishing tournaments.
Across two high rise bridges is Morehead City with its History Place, more great restaurants and a few small shopping malls. Another bridge crosses Bogue Sound and the ICW and takes you to Atlantic Beach with Fort Macon restoration, a top nationally ranked Aquarium and miles of crystal beach with public access.
I have two kayaks (a tandem and a small yellow duck plus paddles and life jackets) and I have two bicycles all of which you are free to use. You can ride bikes to downtown Beaufort (2.5 miles) without ever coming to a stop light. We have a fabulous Saturday Farmer's Market, live music most nights, the annual Pirate Invasion, music festivals, the Wine and Food Festival, Old Homes tours sponsored by the Beaufort Historical Association and a very active waterfront. You can fish off our many public docks around the area.
Potter is a darling 8 year old labradoodle who loves to find a toy, show off his over the shoulder short stop catches and walk with you wherever. He is spirited so I have a fenced in back yard. My house is basically one story with a master bedroom with king bed and bath with shower and jacuzzie. Down a hallway separated by the stairwell is an office and a small guest room with a queen bed and a second bath. I have added a sunroom, a deck and refreshed bothr baths. The kitchen is well equipped and opens to the dinning area and living room. It is a very comfortable, well appointed home. There are three TV's, very fast WiFi and an all house generator just in case.
In addition to feeding, exercising and loving my dog and cat, I also feed the birds and have several house plants that would need weekly watering. Other than that, your stay will be a special vacation in a very lovely location!
I hope this quiet yet accessible home in a classic old sea port and fishing and sailing community entices you to love it as it did me 25 years ago!
